This paper aims to provide an overview of anglophone literature on historical lexicography. It begins by defining history and lexicography in order to explore possible relationships between them. What follows is a critical discussion of two analytical perspectives: “history in lexicography” and “lexicography in history.” The former seeks to explain what historical information is, how history has permeated dictionaries, particularly those compiled on historical principles, and why the historical dictionary needs to be re-interpreted along new lines. The Lexikon by Hesychius from Alexandreia (V-VI century) is one of the most important lexicographical works in Ancient Greek. It contains an encyclopedic amount of glossematic terms (lexeis) from several kinds of literary sources – epic, lyric and dramatic poetry, rhetoric, historiography, paremiography, neo and veterotestamentary tradition, and so on. The commonly used Catalan lexicons (DCVB, DECLC, the vocabulary of Lluis Faraudo de Saint-Germain) collect words and give them meaning from ancient editions of texts. Lexicographers’ performance had its own logic: they used the documentary sources they had at their disposal when they set up to write their works. The advances in philological research (new critical editions, new sources of information) allow us to refine results and detect errors that occurred in old editions and went into dictionaries. From 1850 to 1868, the Sicilian economist Francesco Ferrara was editor-in-chief of the Biblioteca dell’Economista, a series of economic treatises – published in Italy and abroad – among the best known and most important of that period. Ferrara and his assistants, among whom was his friend Emerico Amari, translated scores of economic pages into Italian laying the foundation to the specialized translation in the economic field. The treatment of collocations in Spanish-Catalan bilingual dictionaries

En este trabajo nos centraremos en el tratamiento que reciben las colocaciones en los diccionarios bilingües de la pareja de lenguas español y catalán, repertorios destinados generalmente a usuarios no nativos del catalán con el fin de comprender o producir textos en catalán. Para ello, partiremos del análisis de dichas combinaciones en cinco de los diccionarios bilingües de las parejas de lengua analizadas usados en la actualidad.
